About the piece
With point of departure in handmade photographic glass filters and photography Colberg is researching the immaterial aspects and the ambiguity of transparent glass and how these notions can trigger new perspectives and different interpretations. Her focus is set on the act of seeing and how the glass filters change and alter perception. Through the filters many questions occur and demand the viewer to take them into account. A re-occuring subject is construction; construction of self, our surroundings, our friends, our life, our taste, our look our seeing. An everlasting journey of experience, knowledge, failures and success.

We use all kinds of analogue tools and gimmicks to alter our appearance. Girl shows a distorted image of an eyelash curler; an object that provides a small edit in the daily construction of self. Below the image is a kliché print of the text Girl, You’ll be a Woman Soon, written by Colberg’s 7 year old niece Nellie.
